My Dear Friends:
As most of you have heard, a tsunami hit Sri Lanka yesterday. The death toll exceeds 2,000 people with over 1 million left homeless.
The Nonviolent Peaceforce team is all accounted for and safe.
Kathy Orovwigho sustained lacerations to her foot and is in the hospital in Matara. Fellow team member Frank Anim-Appiah is monitoring her. As soon as the roads are repaired she will be brought to Colombo. The wave hit as she was worshiping in church. Her family in Nigeria has been notified.
NP staff in Sri Lanka and around the world have been working well together in coordinating our work.
Please keep your thoughts and prayers with the people of Sri Lanka and throughout South Asia.
We will keep you updated.
